How it was done, step by step.

It’s continuing to decrease: the block remains on screen, and the project progresses phase by phase, with the actual work carried out by i-mas in each phase.

Project update
Fase 01 · The project

Together with BluePhysics, we developed a high-precision system for measuring radiation in radiotherapy equipment, from very low levels to high intensities.

Fase 02 · The challenge

Obtain fast, localized measurements in very specific areas, using a sensor small enough not to interfere with the radiation field itself.

The challenge
Fase 03 · Development

We jointly designed a custom sensor based on scintillating plastic connected to an optical fibre and a photomultiplier. The system detects radiation over a wide range with high sensitivity. Its small size allows highly localized measurements, while the optical fibre enables remote data acquisition.

Development
Fase 04 · Final product

The system quickly and precisely characterizes radiation at specific points in radiotherapy equipment. It includes custom control software and is used in hospitals and research centres internationally.
