Frequently Asked Questions
This involves transforming components into a finished product: mechanical, electrical, and electronic assembly, functional testing, packaging, and shipping. This is outsourced when the company that designs or sells the product does not have its own manufacturing facility. i-mas assembles prototypes, pre-series, and short series in five facilities in Montcada i Reixac and Mollet del Vallès, with its own in-house warehousing and shipping operations.
A pre-production run consists of the first units, usually dozens, used to validate the product and assembly process before committing to production. A short run is regular production of hundreds of units using an established process. At i-mas, the pre-production run results in a documented assembly procedure for production.
Yes. We require the materials list, the drawings, and assembly instructions; if these are missing, a company with its own engineering department will complete them. Many clients come to i-mas with the product already designed and only externalize the assembly, quality control, and shipping.
According to agreement: the client provides the material, or the assembler manages the purchase and stock. i-mas can control the entire chain: purchasing components, machining parts within their workshop, i-mas Electronics electronics, and stock management, or work with the material supplied by the client.
With functional verification performed on a unit-by-unit basis, and with each one individually recorded. When the product requires it, i-mas incorporates i-mas Vision’s machine vision systems for inspecting the assembly piece by piece. Because the same group designs, manufactures, and assembles the product, a failure is corrected in the design and does not recur.
It should, because this avoids moving the product twice. i-mas has finished-goods storage, prepares the final packaging and dispatches by courier or freight to the client’s chosen destination, in Spain or abroad. Products leave the premises ready for the end customer.
