Icarus
An avant-garde hospitality headboard
Icarus is an avant-garde design headrest with all the necessary elements to offer the patient the most pleasant hospitalisation possible.
This project facilitates the stay in hospitals by offering the necessary comforts in a single product. Its design blends in perfectly with its surroundings and it is easy to install in hospital environments.

Challenge
Designing a product for hospital environments that improves the stay of patients and is certified
The i-mas team aimed to develop a product for the healthcare sector that would have the various tools needed by staff and the amenities required by the patient. This is linked to a modern design that fits in with the environment and is approved by the different regulations in the sector.

Development
A headboard has been created that blends in with the aesthetics of the environment and has different compartments for the various functions.
A product was designed that can be manufactured in different materials such as corian , methacrylate or polycarbonate. It is designed to house T5 fluorescent lighting modules, LED and diffuser for direct light with special internal structure that redirects the light towards the patient. In addition, there are integrated compartments with a reading light and mechanisms, medical gases, a card holder for patient identification and an LED wake-up light.

Final product
A state-of-the-art design has been obtained that has all the necessary resources and is approved in accordance with the regulations.
A product has been developed that has rounded ends without visible screws, fixed by magnets and an internal security screw. The system can be installed both vertically and horizontally, facilitating its integration in hospital environments. A pre-installation bracket is also available to facilitate the process.
