Beyond identifying defects or verifying parts, its true value lies in its ability to generate automatic decisions, unit-level traceability, and continuous improvement of the production process.  <\/p>\n\n<p>In this article, we explore how to implement advanced <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/i-mas.com\/en\/the-role-of-hyperspectral-vision-in-industry-4-0\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">machine vision systems <\/a><\/strong>directly on the production line, with real-world examples and key technical tips for effective deployment. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>From inspection to process control using artificial vision systems <\/strong><\/h2>\n\n<p>Unlike an<strong> isolated quality control station<\/strong>, integrated<strong> in-line vision systems<\/strong> allow real-time action: from rejecting a defective part to adjusting process parameters or guiding a <strong>collaborative robot <\/strong>based on the information captured by the cameras. <\/p>\n\n<p>This shift from \u201cpost-production control\u201d to \u201cin-process control\u201d is key to improving operational efficiency and reducing waste. For example, on an electronics assembly line, vision can detect millimeter deviations in the position of a component and, based on that information, automatically recalibrate the robot.  <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Common challenges in implementing artificial vision<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n<p>Integrating <strong>machine vision<\/strong> into an industrial line is no trivial task. Often, standard solutions do not solve real factory problems, and it is necessary to design custom stations. Some of the most common challenges we encounter at I-MAS:   <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Variable lighting conditions:<\/strong> Natural light, glare from metal surfaces, or dust in the air can cause erroneous readings. Controlled, enclosed lighting systems should be designed.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Parts with complex geometries or critical tolerances:<\/strong> It is common to find components that require 3D inspections or inspections from multiple angles. This is where stereo cameras, depth sensors, or synchronized multi-camera systems come into play.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>High line speed: <\/strong>On fast production lines, capture and processing systems must work in milliseconds. This means choosing cameras with high refresh rates and processors capable of executing AI inferences in real time.  <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Integration with PLCs and MES:<\/strong> Vision cannot operate independently. It must communicate with the rest of the<a href=\"https:\/\/i-mas.com\/en\/automation-of-multi-product-lines-flexibility-control-and-efficiency-2\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong> automation system <\/strong><\/a>(PLC, SCADA, MES), whether to trigger an actuator, modify a variable, or generate traceability by serial number.  <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Deep learning and AI vision: the new standard<\/strong> <\/h2>\n\n<p>One of the most transformative advances has been the incorporation of<strong> neural networks trained to detect defects<\/strong> with complex variability.
